Sweet!!!!! Okay, here's one that probably everyone knows already. But, it was new to me at one time, so maybe it will help someone? smile.gif

Pot Roast

Put in the bottom of the crock pot:
New potatoes, either cut up or whole if they are small enough
Carrot slices
1/4 cup of chopped onions

On top of the veggies put the pot roast meat

Then pour in a cup or two of beef broth
a dash of worcestshire sauce
a dash of soy sauce

If I add mushrooms, I sautee them first with the onions, then add them to the pot. It seems like their texture gets weird if they just cook all day in the crock pot without being sauteed first. But, maybe that's just me?

Set on low 10-12 hours or set on high 5-7 hours

MMMMmmmm. That's one of this family's favorite meals. Not much can go wrong with me cooking it either. ha ha ha

Thanks Faith for starting this thread.

God bless you.

oh YUM. Sounds wonderful Gina.
Here we go again, stoking up the appetites. smile.gif

I slow cook whole chicken all day, in a crock pot.

Very simple. Quarter apples and onions,
stuff the cavities of the chicken,
place in Crock pot with chicken broth
and that's it. Maybe add a little apple juice.
Add veggies of choice in the last hour.
(I prefer sweet potatoes and yukons together)

I then let the chicken cool, pop it in a hot
oven for a few minutes to crisp up the chicken.
Meanwhile pour off the broth and thicken
with a little braised flour/butter (what's that called? brie? ghee?)
season to taste ~ and it's done.

I enjoy crock pot cooking. SO easy.

Meat of choice: we use chicken breasts, roasts of many types, season to flavor a bit strong, toss in crockpot on low while you're at work.

Come home and, with two forks, shred it! Add onions, garlic, green chiles, and other chiles for spice/heat. Let cook about another two hours.

Wrap a good size fork-full with a tortilla or fresh bread, cheese to taste.

Enjoy!

In Christ,

Jonathan
