Lesley (Christina99) asked me this morning on the way to school to tell everyone about this. So here goes...lol
Yesterday afternoon Lesley went outside to read. She was setting in a swing near the edge of the woods. She said she looked up and saw a doe with a fawn. That's nice she thought. Then she heard something tipping up behind her.
She turned around to see a spike buck with tall spikes about 5 feet from her.
(I've seen him lots of times,he looks like a goat.)
She came running back inside and wanted me to go back out there with her. She was a little scared.
She's 10 and sees them all the time but this one was too close for comfort....lol

lol

That is funny!

We took Molly to the zoo when she was about 2 years old. A peacock about eight feet away did that obnoxious call that sounds like someone yelling "NO!! NO!! NO!!"

She stared for about 20 seconds, then decided she didn't like that and started crying.

I imagine I would have been scared just like Leslie. ohmy.gif Bucks can be mean especially during the "season". We had a demon buck here in our area for a while. He was just out and out nuts. He'd attack our fences and run after the dogs. It was always a chore to make a mad dash for your car when he was out there because you just never knew if he was there waiting to pounce on you. He finally moved on but I still keep an eye out for him. 6878.gif

Cindy, he probably moved on to the spit or roasting pan.

It should be duly noted though, that bucks DO gore people to death on occasion.

You're right, just too bad he didn't make it to my roasting pan.

We love watching the does and fawns here too. smile.gif

Father held back the buck. I believe that,
to allow His daughter Lesley to flee
to safety.

I think that's beautiful!

It's also a rush~~being up close and personal with
Nature like that! Like WOW, I was there, saw it,
and lived. smile.gif

Not a thing you set out to do. But inwardly
glad that got to experience it.

Kind of how we felt with the big bear. And NOPE
we don't want to do that again either.

I loved this! Thank you for sharing. smile.gif

YHVH bless!

I told Lesley he'll probably be the one that I make hamburger out of this year.

She agreed. smile.gif

That's the perfect name for him, biggrin.gif

Lesley, that must have been a little scary, but I am so happy that our Father did not let "Spike" get too close to you, at least not until your Dad serves him up later this Fall, maybe?

My Step Mom lives in a rural area in Alabama and there are a lot of deer in her area, once when I was home visiting, driving slowly on the gravel road that leads to her home, all of a sudden this big buck jumped from one side of the road over the hood of the car and landed on the other side of a fence in a field along side the road, once I got my wits back (scared me too), it was the most amazing jump I'd ever seen. I'll give him a "10"! Also, noticed there were several smaller deer with him so I am very happy that Father didn't allow me to hit any.

God bless,

Kandy

Actually, a physically...mature male is a good candidate for a crock pot too; unless you are talking low and slow with baking bags. Lots of garlic, potatoes, leeks, onion, carrots, sea salt and cracked black pepper to help hide the game taste. Even better as a 3 alarm chili ingredient; that almost always hides any mistakes.
